This is how Jaipur marks World Disability Day

Uthao Ek Kadam

On the eve of World Disability Day, a ‘Nukkad Natak – Uthao Ek Kadam’ was organized today by students of Umang, a NGO working for the rehabilitation of persons with disability. The play, which took place at Seth AnadiLal Poddar School of Hearing Impairment, highlighted the issues and and basic rights of people with disabilities according to the Persons with Disabilities Act (PWD, 1995).

The dance performance, which was a celebration of the diversity in our society, was choreographed by two trainers of the Shiamak Davar dance troupe.

It was indeed heartening to see the differently abled children participating and making the most of this event. Jaipur is proud to be the home to such enthusiastic and positive minds.
