Hair Tips: Make Sure Your Hair Stays Healthy This Summer

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Jaipur has hit skyrocket temperatures with scorching 40 degrees and hot loo blowing the dirt and dust into your hair. Hair damage is inevitable in this heat, especially for those travelling on two-wheelers. The UV and sweat combined together will make your hair dry, brittle, greasy and limp.

Here are some of our hair tips you can follow to keep your hair bouncy and flowing this Summer:

Keep it Oiled!

Oiling your hair once or twice a week is a MUST. Proper application of hair oil gives the hair nourishment and hydration that the heat of the sun takes away. There are a variety of oil recipes you can DIY and apply for maintaining silky and healthy hair. Here are some of our tried and tested recipes.

For Scalp

Heat a combination of Castor oil, Sweet Almond oil and Avocado oil (optional) and apply with a cotton ball on the scalp. Parting your hair with a comb helps cover all areas of the scalp with the oil.

For Hair

Heat Olive oil or Virgin coconut oil and apply liberally to coat all strands of your hair. We recommend Virgin Coconut Oil as it contains no Mineral Oils or added scents, which tend to weaken your hair. There are various Eco-friendly good smelling hairsprays  which has given out amazing results & made customers happy & contented about their hair.

After application, massage your hair for 20 mins by rubbing the pads of your fingers softly into your scalp. Do not scratch with nails or pull and tug on your hair. You can also take optional steam by wrapping a soaked hot towel on your hair for 5 minutes.

Keep it Squeaky Clean!

Experts at Root Hair Institute say that hair tends to get dirty faster during the summers. In Jaipur, sand and dirt particles tend to fly into your hair every day. Regular hair washing keeps the hair free of dirt, bacteria, tangles and other unwanted particles. You can wash your hair 1-2x a week with a shampoo catered to suit your hair. Use a deep cleansing shampoo once a month to get your hair free of all build up (hair products, dandruff, dirt etc.) On days, you feel too lazy to wash your hair you can opt for a co-wash (conditioner only hair wash)

Mix 1 tsp honey into a glass of raw whole milk then massage it into the hair from root to tip. Shampoo hair with lukewarm water after 25 minutes.

Don’t Heat It Up!

Avoid using hair styling tools like blow dryers, hair straighteners and hair curlers. Try to air-dry your hair after a shower and apply hair serum after every hair wash. When using hair styling tools always use a heat protectant spray to avoid hair frizziness and breakage.

Stay Hydrated!

Water helps the body to process and flush out toxins faster. We recommend drinking about 8 cups of water a day, not only will your body feel better, but your hair will get stronger and grow faster. Drinking water also keeps your hair hydrated from the inside out. Hydrated hair is much less likely to break.
