Liberia is the brainchild of  Ms Meghal Madeka, who is an avid reader herself. She turned her passion into a successful business model by ideating Liberia. “It started in Vadodara in 2010, as Dial-a-book, where only books were rented, when dialed upon. Slowly, operations spread across Anand and Nadiad. In 2013, a transformation in strategy as well as brand led to the birth of Liberia. DVDs got added to the offering. Our service extended to Gandhinagar.  We have served close to 8500 members, over a period of 5 years. And have now reached a stage where we are exploring options of  expansion”, says Madeka.

When asked why she is keen on opening the store in Jaipur, she proudly says, “If India is Asia’s literary nucleus, the pink city is at the helm of it. Jaipur is like the jewel on the crown of art and literature. It is well known that the Jaipur Literature Festival, proclaimed to be Asia-Pacific’s largest literary event, has become a platform to celebrate Indian as well as international excellence in writing. Jaipur, with its perfect blend of modern and traditional values, seemed quintessential in Liberia’s road map.”

Photo walk at JKK

Capturing unique perspectives at a photo walk at Jawahar Kala Kendra

As many as 35 shutterbugs from Jaipur relished a one-of-its-kind enriching photography experience on Saturday morning as they gathered together to capture the diverse natural, architectural and geometric perspectives of Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The occasion was a Photo Walk organized by JKK with five photography experts from the city — Dr Tabeenah Anjum, Arvind Jodha, Indrajit Bose, Rajesh Kumar and Suman Sarkar.
The participants were divided into five groups and each one of them covered various locations of JKK like the Open Air Theatre, Front Lawn, Dome Area, Terrace and Shilpgram. From lines and geometrical shots to flowers, birds and the picturesque interiors of Jawahar Kala Kendra, the participants captured various compositions during the walk. The walk gave the attendees not only an opportunity to hone their skills as a photographer, learn new ideas, and explore different compositions but also provided them with a chance to meet other camera enthusiasts and share their ideas with one another.
