“Solitude has an infinite power which helps us to understand ourselves and our nature better. In fact, by getting a better understanding of oneself, it is also easier to connect with the real world”, believes Jaipur based senior artist, RB Gautam. It is this belief that he has tried to showcase through his abstract art works displayed at the solo exhibition of his paintings ‘Srijananubhav – An Experience of Creation’. Over 20 of his distinct ‘Acrylic on Canvas’ artworks have been put up in the ICA Art Gallery situated near Jal Mahal in Jaipur.

STRUGGLE IS NECESSARY TO SUCCEED

On being asked about his muse, the octogenarian artist says: “The various happenings of the society — be it the perils of the Covid-19 pandemic, the humanity that one witnessed during these times, violence against women, etc. — I find my muse in everything around me.”

After having contributed to the field of art for over five decades, the artist believes that struggle is an intrinsic part of one’s life. “Without facing challenges and difficulties, it is not possible to achieve success and earn a name for oneself in any field. Be it art, literature, music, dance or any other field, an artist must keep working on improving oneself and keep imbibing the new trends and nuances of that particular genre”, says RB Gautam.

Giving a message for other artists, art lovers and enthusiasts, he further says: “There is no substitute for hard work. To etch one’s name in history, it is essential to keep working hard and be true to one’s art, culture and traditions.”
