When you’re Indian it’s difficult to resist the temptation of filling your tummy with delicious mouth-watering golgappas. This crunchy ball of goodness has several aliases –Puchka, Pani Puri, Fulki or Patashi. Call it by any name, the love for spicy tangy taste of golgappas never fails to attract people of all ages. However with every corner shop selling golgappas how do you find the best one of the lot?
Here, our list of the must-try golgappa shops in the city you can’t afford to miss out on!
Gopal Singh Bhandar
Gopal Singh aka Gopal ji, is the oldest and most popular chaat joints of Jaipur. Gopal ji offers authentic golgappas with different flavours of water. What makes them different from the others is their filling, which is known as ‘Ragda.’ Made from boiled potatoes, chickpeas, moong sprouts and their thick white peas curry.
Location: Ahimsa Circle.
Chawla’s
Chawla’s, a promising name for chaat in Jaipur, has been serving tantalising golgappas for many years. The joint is most preferred by foodies for its chaat masala and different flavoured water. One must also try their sweet, and spicy chaat served with curd and Sev Puri to fulfill your appetite.
Location: 4, Fashion Street, Raja Park.
Laxmi Chaat Bhandar
After spending a tiring day shopping in the markets of the walled city, LCB is the place to reenergizee yourself with some delicious Pani Puri.
Location: Link Rd, Bapu Bazar, Biseswarji.
Lalaji ki Patashi
Located in the walled city, it is one of the best joints for indulging in some pani puri. Lalaji ki Patashi serves unique street yummies sure to make you drool. Here you will get plenty of varieties of Golgappas – Suzi Ki Patashi, Maida Papdi, Papdi Chaat, Aloo Chaat, Tikki and much more.
Location: Opp. Sargasuli, Tripolia Bazaar.
Jaipuri Chatkara
Located at the foodie paradise of Jaipur – Gaurav Tower, Jaipur Chatkara serves up delicious Pani Puri, Chola Chaat and North-Indian delicacies. For those not indulging in Golgappas because they are concerned about the cleanliness, Jaipur Chatkara is the perfect spot for them to indulge in pani puri. The chaat here is made keeping in mind hygiene conditions. The cooks here use gloves while serving dishes and make sure to keep their workplace clean.
Location: Gaurav Tower, Malaviya Nagar.
Tapri
A place that celebrates chit-chat and tea has cultured over the years to become one of the best cafés in the city. Well-known for its Namkeen Shots and in-house chutneys served with mouth-watering delicacies, Tapri offers a unique variety of golgappas, certainly a step out of the conventional box. It is also the only place in the city to serve oven baked golgappas filled with fresh veggies. What I liked most here, were the Mexican Puchka and Corn Cheese Shots. The corn – mayo stuffed Golgappa, topped off with grated cheese is certainly a fun and delicious food combination.
Location: B4-E, Prithviraj Road opposite Central Park Gate No. 4, C-Scheme.
National Handloom Golgappe Wala
This Golgappa stall is located just outside National Handloom at Vaishali Nagar, serves golgappas complete with its trademark taste. They serve 5-different Panis from Regular, Pudhina, Hajma, Jeera to Leshun. Though every flavour is worth trying, my favourites were Pudhina and Jeera. This place is known and favoured for its hygiene and use of fresh water used for making the Masala Paani.
Location: Near National Handloom, Vaishali Nagar.
So next time you’re craving golgappas don’t miss out on visiting these top choices! We bet you can’t have just one!
