With the recently imposed curfew guidelines in the Pink City, the restaurants are closed for dine-in once again. As we battle to flatten the curve, the hospitality industry is in a state of flux. However, this time they are better prepared to tackle the crisis with delivery and takeaway processes well in place. In fact, the Pandemic has also pushed many top-notch hotels of the city to take the road less traveled and deliver their gourmet selections to people in the confines of their homes. While some are making use of delivery aggregators like Swiggy and Zomato, others are being more cautious about the hygiene and delivering through their own team with an additional delivery charge which ranges from Rs 100 to Rs 500 depending on the distance. From healthy salads and soups to dim sums and sushi as well as festive Ramzan and IPL menus, there is a lot to please one’s palate while staying in. Let’s take a look at some of the hotels in Jaipur that have curated special delivery menus for the city’s gastronomes:
From Khow Suey to Ker Sangri
The 22 Godown located Hotel Holiday Inn is authentic Pan Asian fare from their specialty Chinese bistro – Chao as well as local delicacies like Ker Sangri, Laal Maas and Rajasthani Thali from their all day dining restaurant, Monarch. Keeping the ongoing pandemic in mind, they have also introduced new dishes in their menu. For instance, a Chinese herbal noodle broth with ginger, celery and sesame oil has been added to the soup section. While they are delivering through Swiggy and Zomato, they have a minimum order amount if you’d like to get delivery from their in-house team.
From Iftari to IPL
To brighten up their guests’ Iftari moments in the ongoing Ramadan period, ITC Rajputana has curated a new selection of dishes called ‘Ruhaniyat’ as a part of their delivery and take away service ‘Gourmet Couch’. They have traditional specials like Haleem, Shahi Nehari, Murgh Handi Qorma and Seviyan on offer. For cricket lovers, special Cheering boxes have been put together with catchy names like ‘First Innings’, ‘Second Innings’, ‘Super Over’, among others. These contain a mix of kebabs, the quintessential Dal Bukhara as well as a dessert and a beverage. To ensure safety and hygiene, the boxes include a heating manual as well as sanitizers.
From Tikkas to Spreads
Royal Heritage Haveli’s Café Samsara has become quite popular in recent times owing to their preservative-free and freshly prepared breads and oriental as well as Indian cuisines. In the newly imposed curfew, they have started delivering as well with their new initiative ‘Samsara On the Go’. From light meals like sandwiches, burgers and wraps, they also have hand-rolled pasta dishes and Tandoori tikkas also to choose from. Jars of spreads like hummus, cream cheese, caramelized onion jam and salted caramel are on offer too. Celebration cakes for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries can also be customized from here.
For maintenance of safety standards, they are not using any third party delivery apps and are delivering through their own team for with an additional delivery charge.
From Immunity Booster Kadha to Dum Biryani
Realizing the potential in the food delivery sector during the times of Covid-19, the Ananta Group of Hotels opened three cloud kitchens in Jaipur during the pandemic. These kitchens cater to three different cuisines — superfoods (Soulstir), Oriental (Dragon Cart) and Indian (Swa-Dish). While Soulstir has a range of healthy seeds, salads and soups as well as an Immunity Booster Kadha to choose from, the other two kitchens have diverse Chinese and Indian dishes on the menu. At Swa-dish, one can also has options of choosing food without onion and garlic.
From Sushi to Shakes
Hotel Jaipur Marriott’s popular restaurants Okra and Saffron have also put up signature items from their menu for ordering at home. These include dishes like Sushi, Kathi Rolls and Saffron Paneer. In addition to thick shakes, their in-house bakery, Jaipur Baking Company is also delivering freshly baked cakes, muffins and breads. However, for bakery products the orders need to be placed two hours in advance.
Though the actual experience of dining at these hotels cannot be replicated at home, the deliveries and takeaways are helping people to celebrate occasions indoors while reminiscing the fond memories of dining at their favourite hotels.
